When your day is dull, do you choose joy instead of dwelling in the blues? An amazing friend of mine is enduring hardship right now, but determined to embrace life with all she has in the Lord. While her suffering is real, her joy is complete.

When you’re in destitute and struggling even to breathe, how would you pray? In her weakening body, a courageous friend of mine prayed for sustaining strength. The Lord kept her in the land of the living in order to testify His doings.

When the going gets tougher, the tough gets going… Question: how do you get touch enough to get going? By your will power? Or by submitting yourself to One who is bigger than your problem.

Who is able to make you laugh again, when even a smile requires efforts from you?

Who is able to melt your heart again, when your love and loyalty have been betrayed?

Who will be worthy of you, that in the end of the day, when you are handling grievances of some unknown cause, tell yourself that ‘I choose to live… live with dignity, live nobly, live well’?

“O God, You are my God;
    I earnestly search for You.
My soul thirsts for You;
    my whole body longs for You
in this parched and weary land
    where there is no water.”

I have seen You in Your sanctuary
    and gazed upon Your power and glory.
Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
    how I praise You!
I will praise You as long as I live,
    lifting up my hands to You in prayer.
You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
    I will praise you with songs of joy.

I lie awake thinking of you,
    meditating on You through the night.
Because you are my Helper,
    I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.
